An afternoon with Naomi = lots of screaming and dancing

Austin had to work again today, so my mom and I spent the day teaching Naomi how to squeal and dance. Fun times.

Last weekend

It's been a busy week, but what else is new. I'm finally getting around to posting pictures from this past weekend...and it's already Friday.
Last weekend, Nate, Vonya and their 17 mth old daughter Geneva came to stay with us for the weekend. Geneva was a trip, way too cute for her own good. Not only was she cute, but she's incredibly smart!! Every time she saw Lilo and Stitch, she'd say, "Doggies - woof woof". When she saw Naomi she'd say "Baby - Wah Wah". Nate and Vonya taught her how to say Naomi, and she'd say, "Nomi Omi", cute nickname if you ask me. When you asked her to say Amy, she'd say, "amyamyamy", when you asked her to say Austin, she'd say, "NO!" Like I said. Smart girl.

On Saturday night, Vonya, Nate and Geneva went to a friends engagement party, and the Wei family drove into the city to have dinner with Stan who was visiting from San Fran, Priscilla and Weston. We had dinner at Landmarc, which Priscilla picked because of the numerous strollers parked outside...i.e. kid friendly. Naomi really started opening up at dinner, she kept cracking up whenever Weston or Stan would make faces at her. She's getting to be so much fun. Of course we stayed out a bit too late, and as soon as 8pm struck, Naomi turned into super cranky baby and we headed home not too long after that.

Sunday was another fun packed day. We met up with Gene, Jaime and Alli, and Priscilla at the Central Park Zoo. I was thinking Naomi would be too young to enjoy it, but she proved me wrong. She loved looking at the animals, especially the Penguins - she was laughing and yelling at them for awhile. She also loved seeing all the people walking around, you could see her just taking everything in. She even saw a Polar Bear, and we had to recite the words to her "Polar Bear Polar Bear" book.
At the end of the day, we were all exhausted, both Naomi and Alli conked out in their strollers on the walk back to the car.

All in all, a great weekend.

Milestones Galore!!

Guess Naomi really was going through some major developmental changes.  Thankfully she slept through the night last night.  But today she crawled forward for the first time (sadly I missed it since I was at work, but I got to witness it when I got home...Austin on the other hand is still at work and will have to wait and see it tomorrow or this weekend).  She held her own bottle up to her mouth this morning (again I didn't witness, but at least saw a picture of it!)

She also pushed up from her stomach into a sitting position for the first time - something I was home to witness!

My baby is growing up so quickly!!!

cleaning up

I took off the 'adsense' ads on this blog. They annoyed me because they were so ugly, and lets face it, I've made like $5 in almost a year off of them. Seeing that google only sends you out a check once you've hit the $100 mark.....well you see where I'm going. So anyway, I present to you my totally adsense free blog.

Now I just gotta get my designer *ahem* to spruce it up for me.

Milestone

Wanted to post so I remember when it happened.

Last night Naomi pulled herself up from a sitting to a standing position. Of course since she was using me as her support, I don't have a picture. But it was cute none the less. She kept smiling when she stood up, clearly very proud of her accomplishment.

They say when your babies are about to hit new developmental milestones, they sleep poorly at night. Naomi has proven this to be true. The last two nights have been rough. I've been so spoilt by having her sleep so well at night that these awakenings have me extremely tired.

9 month update

Went to the doctor's today for Naomi's 9 month checkup.

Weight: 15lbs 2 oz (3%)
Height: 27 inches (31%)
Head circumference (66%)

Dr. Schein: "Is Naomi crawling yet?" - Me: "Nope"
Dr. Schein: "Is she standing on her own?" - Me: "Nope"
Dr. Schein: "Is she pulling herself up from a sitting position?"  Me: - "Nope"
Dr,. Schein: "Well, she still has her great hair!"

lazy snowy day

I'm working from home this morning then taking Naomi to the pediatrician for her 9 month appointment (she's 9 months already!!?)

Surpringly, it's snowing - aren't we near the end of March?
Also surprisingly, Naomi has overslept her normal wake up time by over 30 minutes...would have been a nice treat if I didn't have to wake up for work.

This girl sure can sleep a lot!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Daycare day 1 recap

Thank God she's only going 2 days this week. That's all I really need to say. I know that when she finally does go full time it'll get easier as she gets used to it, and this sporadic use of daycare is probably not the easiest thing on her, but man was she a mess when I saw her.
She did nap better than last time which was great (two naps of about an hour each).
She did not eat well though, she only had about half of her bottles during the day. And apparently cried on and off throughout the day. (her eyes were puffy when I finally got to her).
Once I picked her up, she was happy, but as soon as we got to the car, when I tried to put her in her seat, she threw a fit and didn't want me to put her down. She kept arching her back and trying to get out of the car seat...it took me around 5 mins to get her in. Normally not that difficult.
Thankfully once she was in, she calmed down, and we drove home. By the time we got home, she was all smiles and my happy baby was back.
Lilo and Stitch greeted us at the door, and that set Naomi off in a round of giggles.
Lilo left us a little extra gift with a big puddle of pee on the floor. Sigh. love that dog though.
Austin worked til after midnight, so I spent the night taking care of naomi, cleaning up dog pee, cleaning all of naomi's bottles and getting her milk ready for daycare. etc etc. rough long night, after a rough long day at work.
One thing I do love about Naomi going to daycare is that I get to pick out her outfits for the day. Something I don't get to do normally when I'm at work. Each evening Naomi and I go through her closet and lay out her clothes for Austin to dress N in the next morning.

Here's the outfit from yesterday. I need to find a job where I can just dress babies for a living.

Back to dread-care, I mean day-care

A month has passed and Austin's mom and sister left us this weekend.  With my mom and dad not coming back until Tuesday night, we're going to put Naomi back in day-care for 2 days.  Hopefully things will go smoother, she won't cry as much, she won't get sick this time, maybe she'll even nap while she's there (somehow I doubt it).

We had a great month with nai-nai and gu-gu, (that's Mom Wei and Stacey to you).  Already the house seems so empty!

In Naomi developments - she's growing a mouthful of teeth, in addition to the 4 she already has, at least 3 more are coming in on top, and 2 or 3 more on the bottom.
- she's can get up on her hands and knees as of this afternoon.  She even crawled one step on her knees (albeit she went backwards, but hey it counts).
- we moved her crib down to the lower level, she looks teeny tiny in her crib now.  It's kind of silly, but I was a little weepy eyed when we lowered the mattress.  She's no longer a newborn!

Another playdate

We met up for a short playdate with Josiah. After not wanting to nap during the day, Naomi fell asleep in the car on our way over, and in true Naomi fashion slept through the beginning of the playdate. Finally we decided to wake her up since Josiah and hi mom and dad would be going back to Syracuse the next day and it'd be months before we get to see them again. It was cute to see them interact. Josiah was fascinated by Naomi and we were almost thinking he'd learn to crawl as he tried to reach for Naomi. There was a lot of staring, grabbing, sock stealing, toy stealing, almost biting and rolling into each other...Naomi was more than cranky and I had to sit next to her the whole time or she started crying. Regardless it was a good time, and I can't wait to June til we get to go visit them in Upstate NY!

Finally eating!!

We started introducing solids to Naomi right after Thanksgiving. She's been slow to warm to the experience, that is of course with the exception of Cheerios. This child could eat Cheerios until they came out of her ears...Needless to say, her dislike of food has hampered our efforts to help her put on more weight.
Anyhoo, over the past couple of days, Naomi's finally been eating more of her solids (yummy homemade purees of sweet potatoes, string beans, apples etc). She's also started drinking more milk during the day while I'm at work! yay. Hopefully when we take her to her doctor's appointment in a couple of weeks, we'll have bulked her up so she can move out of the 5th percentile!!

Playdate

Yesterday Gene and Jaime came over with their daughter Alli who's 5 wks older than Naomi. This is probably the 4th time or so that we've gotten together with our kids, but it's the first time that they even cared that the other was there! They smiled at each other, ate cheerios with each other, stole toys from each other, tried to touch each other's hands, and even tried to poke each other in the eye. Definitely a big change from our first playdate where Naomi literally slept the whole time they were here (despite being passed around from person to person).
